Only their eighth season of Major League play, the 1969 New York Mets, often referred to as the “Amazin’ Mets” or “Miracle Mets” finished with a record of 100-62, an improvement of 27 wins from their 1968 mark, to claim the National League East Division Championship. Defeating the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series by a 3-0 sweep and the powerhouse Baltimore Orioles 4-1 in the World Series, offered here is this New York Mets batting helmet signed by over twenty (20) members of that remarkable championship squad. Blue in colour with an orange Mets decal having been added over the front the Rawlings/American Ball Cap made piece in deep blue remains in excellent condition with just a small number of light scratches/scuffs throughout. Displaying American Ball Cap and size “7 3/8” stickers on the interior, a leather sweatband is found in place around the edge. Signed by twenty-three (23) over the outside in silver marker, those that have autographed the piece include; Ryan, Seaver, Koosman, Kranepool, Harrelson, Shamsky, Weis, McAndrew, Garrett, Dyer, Pignatano, Swoboda, Otis, Gosger, Clendenon, Groat, Charles, Charles, Cardwell, Martin, Boswell, Taylor and Jones with all the signatures remaining in excellent condition. Having had a Nolan Ryan hologram affixed to the reverse, a JSA Auction LOA from 2012 will accompany the piece.
