Spending a total of 576 games in the National Hockey League over the course of 16-years in the league, Basil McRae would rack up a total of 2457 penalty minutes over that time, good enough for an average of 4.26 per game played. Originally drafted by Quebec at 87th overall in 1980, offered here is this AHL St. Catharines Saints jersey worn by McRae during the 1984-85 season during his two (2) stint as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. A heavy ultra-fil style garment made by Maska in the same design as their NHL parent club, the Maple Leafs, the Maska tag that was once affixed to the inner collar is no longer present while a heavily faded/washed out size and laundry instructions tag is found inside the shoulder seam with the Maska logo embroidered into the reverse hem as well. Measuring out to roughly a size "50", the front of the jersey is decorated with a Saints team crest that features embroidered details while matching Maple Leafs alternate logo crests have been placed over each shoulder. Accented over the sleeves and verso with McRae's number "21" in single layer white or blue tackle twill numerals, "McRae" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the back. Originally made up for Reg Thomas during St. Catharines inaugural AHL season of 1982-83 and recycled for McRae's use in 1984-85, evidence of a former longer nameplate is seen over the upper back. Exhibiting heavy game-use from wear in two different seasons, stick marks, numerous team repairs, board burns and stains are observed throughout the entirety of the piece while the interior sports a customized garter style fight strap and good pilling. Additionally, a couple of unrepaired cuts are also present as well as some coloured board paint transfers.
