Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
The second year since expanding to the larger 330-card set from the previous 264-card offerings, the 1976-77 Topps hockey card set featured the key rookie of Bryan Trottier, along with desirable cards from Ken Dryden, Bobby Orr and Guy Lafleur. Offered here, we present a full box worth of wax packs from Topps' 1976-77 release totalling thirty-six (36). Featuring "hockey" on the front across the top in a groovy font over top of a player that looks like he's in a Philadelphia Flyers uniform, a Topps logo is also featured along with the promise of a "photo card in every pack" as well as a stick of bubble gum. Being all offered as "as is", twenty-five (25) of the packs are still sealed or partially sealed and do not show evidence of having been tampered with while eleven (11) of the packs are no longer sealed but they do not show evidence of having been tampered with and most likely just became unglued over the years. With a variety of send away promotions being displayed on the back of the wrappers, the packs themselves appear to be in good condition with just a couple showing a small tear and wear beyond the typical creasing or wrinkles. Additionally, also included with the lot is an empty 1977-78 Topps Hockey display box. Measuring roughly 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 2 1/2", the box displays "Hockey" along with the original purchase price of .15 cents on the lid as well as a hockey scene with players wearing the uniforms of Washington and Buffalo. Overall in good condition, the box shows some surface wear as well as some creasing and edge/corner wear while remaining free from tears or rips.
