Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
With Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry derisively nicknaming Miami’s defensive unit of the early-1970s the “No-Name Defense” due to the supposed lack of high-profile players, the Dolphins managed to go undefeated in 1972 and win Super Bowl VII – the only team in history to achieve the feat, with nine members selected to the Pro Bowl. Celebrating the undefeated Dolphins of '72, we have a team-signed helmet signed by 26 members of that squad. A full-size Riddell made authentic pro model with Dolphins decals over each side and their teal and orange stripes running from front to back across the top, the helmet remains in beautiful condition with just a couple of small spots/scuffs present after inspection. Complete with all the padding on the interior as well as the chin strap and cup, the helmet has been signed over both sides in black ink by the likes of Mercury Morris, Larry Little, Paul Warfield, Otto Stowe, Eddie Jenkins, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Jake Scott, Jim Langer, Dick Anderson, Bob Heinz, Norm Evans, Karl Noonan, Larry Ball, Manny Fernandez, Marv Fleming, Maulty Moore, Al Jenkins, Marlin Briscoe, Larry Seiple, Howard Twilley, Vern Den Herder and four (4) others for a total of twenty-six (26) signatures that all display without issue. Having had JSA stickers numbered “BB40204” and “WPP174002” affixed to the reverse, the latter of the pair comes accompanied by a JSA COA.
