Born in South Korea, Richard Park and his family moved to the United States when he was three where he took up the game of hockey. Drafted 50th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1994 after playing junior hockey in the OHL with the Belleville Bulls, up for grabs here is this Penguins third jersey worn by Park during his second stint with the Penguins in 2011-12. Made by Reebok and a near direct copy of the jerseys worn by the Penguins in the 2011 Winter Classic, a single size “54” tag is affixed to the inner collar while the crests of the NHL shield and Reebok adorn the front and reverse necklines respectively. Styled over the front with a vintage style Penguins team crest in felt with embroidered details, the sleeves and verso of the garment has been accented with Park’s number “12” is dual layer cream-over-baby blue tackle twill numerals while “Park” is spelt out in single layer cream coloured twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting game-wear via board burns, stick marks and a team repair over the left sleeve and elbow, the interior of the jersey as well as the front crest show pilling. Having been photo-matched with Getty Image #141182533 (March 7th, 2012 vs Toronto) to the team repair seen at the left elbow, a Penguins team tag denoting the jersey as a “2011-2012 Third Jersey Game Jersey” and serial numbered “PP#T21672” is sewn inside the rear hem while a JerseyTRAX tracker has been embedded inside the fight strap. Signed on the inside of the fight strap by Penguins equipment manager, Dana Heinze, a matching Penguins COA and a JerseyTRAX LOA will accompany the piece.
