Fascinating, alluring and riveting are William Paterson V145-1 hockey cards, with the issue's history, its incredible lineup and the haunting images all contributing to the mystique and desirability. The first of two sets issued by the William Paterson Company during the Roaring Twenties and cataloged as "V145-1", offered here is this starter set of the ever-popular pre-war release that includes seventeen (17) of the forty (40) cards that make up the checklist. Led by recently graded PSA examples of King Clancy's key rookie card and Canadiens goaltending legend, George Vezina, that display grades of FR 1.5 and PR 1 over their respective labels, the rest of the cards, all found still existing in their raw ungraded form, are dominated by GOOD range offerings including those of 5-Helman (light bend - surface wear), 8-Hitchman (very small amount of paper loss at bottom right), 16-Boucher (very small surface scratch to the left of his head), 18-Cleghorn (tiny creases at top border), 31-R. Green (light pencil mark on the reverse) and 32-Prodgers (general surface wear). Also featuring G to VG range cards of 9-Broadbent (light corner wear) and 22-Stuart (scratch at top left and corner wear), cardboard seen as being in the neighbourhood of FR to G includes the likes of 4-Darragh (back stain and light damage), 28-Roach (surface damage), 29-Forbes (crease at top left) and 37-Bouchard (paper loss at bottom right corner). Of note, an additional copy of 37-Bouchard is included as well and presents as PR to FR due to being creased and having corner wear/damage all the way around. Finished out by PR proximity cards of 1-Gerrard (large crease), 30-S. Green (punched hole and back stamp) and 38-Roach (crease and back damage), don't miss out on these as cards from this set are always highly sought after!
