Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Fleer's return to the baseball card market in 1981 saw the firm choose then-Hall of Fame-bound stars Pete Rose and Reggie Jackson to appear on display box tops, with additional information pertaining to the “2 Free Packs in this Box”, “Premier Edition” and the .30 cent purchase price per pack also gracing the lid with the hit king and “Mr. October”. Certainly a survivor of the era and showing its age and battle scars, offered here is this box of 1981 Fleer Baseball that has all thirty-eight (38) packs that house seventeen (17) cards and a stick of bubble gum accounted for. Sporting surface wear to all four sides as well as the top lid and bottom (which shows a spot of paper loss), moderate-to-heavy edge and corner wear is observed throughout the piece along with the odd crease. A tear is seen along the front side with smaller ones seen at the front and back edges as well. Despite not having been certified, the packs inside do not appear to be tampered with after our inspection of them. Fully perforated along the edges of the fold up display on top of the lid, numerous opportunities await our lucky winning bidder.
