A vastly popular set among all vintage collectors, those looking to add a respectable mid-range grade near set of O-Pee-Chee’s 1968-69 set need to look no further than the one offered here that includes all but one of the 216-cards that make a complete assembly. Missing just card #62 of Yvan Cournoyer to be complete, the grouping is found in a consistent grade range of VG-EX to EX with a few exceptions to tell you about such as 19-Mohns (paper loss on the reverse), 71-Seiling (small spot of paper loss on the reverse), 141-Falkenberg (staining/water damage on the reverse), 209-Gilbert (tape residue on the reverse) and 215-Hall Conn Smythe (residue marks on the reverse). Led by a quartet of PSA/SGC slabs, a PSA NM-MT 8 of Ron Harris, albeit with an “OC” (off-center) qualifier, is included and followed up by a PSA EX-MT 6 of Bill White and a PSA EX 5 of Jacques Plante while the lone SGC offerings comes in the form of a VG+ 3.5 copy of the 1st Series Checklist card. All the holders remain in good condition with just light scratches worth mentioning. For the notable cards, EX to EX-MT scope cards of 16-Hull (small diamond cut), 140-Cheevers (off-center top-to-bottom) and 155-Mikita lead the way and are followed close behind by VG-EX to EX cards of 29-Howe (light corner wear and off-center top-to-bottom) and 61-Checklist (unmarked – light surface scratch and corner wear). VG to VG-EX cards include those of 2-Orr (four soft corners), 34-Sawchuk (four soft corners – off-center top-to-bottom), 89-Parent (RC – four soft corners) and 123-Horton (completely off-center). For card in the G to VG scope, examples are present of 111-Hall (crease), 164-Vachon (large circle shaped dent), 203-Howe All-Star (crease and dent) and 204-Hull All-Star (factory crease up the middle). The last two notables include a GOOD condition range copy of card #200 of Bobby Orr’s All-Star nod (large but light crease) and a FR to G copy of Orr’s Norris Trophy card, #214, that looks better but has wear to the bottom left border and glue residue on the reverse. A classic assembly bound to send the lucky winning bidder back through time to memories of simpler times, don’t let these pass you by!
