Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
After a season without hockey cards, kids and others must have been excited/smiling when they first saw Parkhurst packs in stores in 1957, with the Canadiens and Maple Leafs featured and Maurice Richard appearing on wax pack display boxes. Offered here in near-complete form, the set is missing Montreal cards 3-Beliveau, 4-H. Richard RC, 5-M. Richard and 15-Plante and Toronto offerings 4-Pulford RC, 17-Mahovlich RC, 20-Baun RC and 22-Horton while an extra copy of Montreal card #18 of Marcel Bonin is included. With all the included cards having corner wear of some variation, the grouping is found to be in the overall average condition range of VG. For the key cards, the Montreal offerings are led by a VG-EX to EX condition card of Charlie Hodge that is followed up by VG to VG-EX cards of Boom Boom Geoffrion and Dickie Moore that show light corner wear and light surface wear respectively while the Canadiens portion is rounded out by a GOOD range copy of card #1 picturing Doug Harvey that has two light creases over it. For the Toronto cards, the Leafs are led by the RC of Mike Nykoluk that is seen as being in the range of VG-EX to EX while the cards of #1 George Armstrong and #3 Dick Duff are in the vicinity of VG to VG-EX condition, both with corner wear that is worth noting. Lastly, the RC of Ed Chadwick is in the scope of G to VG condition. Always interesting and desired by vintage collectors, don’t miss out on these!
