Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
The last set ever released by Canadian company Parkhurst and often regarded as the most visually appealing of all those that were put out into the world by them, the 1963-64 Parkhurst hockey set featured a 99-card checklist that pictured players from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. Up for grabs here, is this 28-card starter set of that final release with every card having already been graded by either PSA or SGC. All high-grade offerings that display labels that show the grade of NM-MT 8 or higher, PSA slabs total twenty three (23) and include MINT 9’s of 2-Simmons, 8-Brewer, 11-Harris, 12-Pulford, 22-Talbot, 31-Tremblay, 33-Ferguson (RC), 36-Provost, 37-Reaume, 49-Cushenan, 50-Delvecchio, 57-Smith (RC), 59-Gadsby, 60-Barkley (RC), 65-Bower, 66-Litzenberger, 68-Brewer, 70-Nevin, 71-Harris, 72-Pulford, 79-Imlach and 96-Reaume while the last PSA example comes in the form of NM-MT+ 8.5 of Jacques Laperriere’s RC that falls at #27 on the checklist. For the SGC graded specimens that total five (5), cards #18 of Bob Baun, #44 of Calvin Parker MacDonald, #52 of Norm Ullman and #85 of Red Berenson (RC) have all earned marks of MINT 9 as well with the last card to round the group being a NM-MT 8 of King Clancy, card #20 in the set. Sure to pique the interest of all those that chase high-grade vintage cardboard especially when it comes to Original Six era or Parkhurst offerings, don’t let this bevy of opportunities slip through your hands to someone else! Of note, all the holders remain in good condition showing just light scratches/scuffs after inspection.
