Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Having registered the first of ten (10) 100 or more-point seasons during his first National Hockey League campaign, Mario Lemieux would win the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s best rookie in 1985 and have his coveted rookie cards finally appear in packs of Topps’ 1985-86 hockey release such as the example offered here that has earned a designation of ENM+ 6.5 from KSA. Displaying with attributes such as pleasing centering and beautiful colours, light wear is seen to the corners on both sides of the card as well as what seems to be a slight wrinkle at the bottom right corner on the front and light stains dotted on the reverse. A wonderful upper level mid-grade freshman offering from arguably one of the best players the game of hockey has ever seen that is housed in a KSA holder that shows just a couple of small light scratches, don’t let this card pass you or your all-important Penguins/Lemieux collection by!
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
