The younger brother of Joe Sacco, David's hockey journey saw him play five (5) years with the Boston University Terriers in the Hockey East conference of the NCAA where he was named a First-Team All-American in both 1991-92 and 1992-93. Drafted 195th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1988 and playing a total of 35 National Hockey League games over the course of his career, offered here we present this New York Islanders jersey worn by Sacco during the team's training camp and pre-season before the 1996-97 campaign. Made by CCM with a single size “54” tag affixed inside the collar, the logos of CCM and the NHL shield have been embroidered into the rear hem. Decorated over the front with the infamous Islanders “Fisherman” crest that lasted only two seasons and matching light house alternate logo patches over both shoulders, the glue outline of a larger front logo that once graced the jersey is seen around the edge of the smaller one that the team put in its place. Adding to the appeal, the jersey hails from the Islanders 25th anniversary season with their anniversary patch commemorating the occasion seen over the right breast. Having had Sacco's number "65" sewn to the sleeves and verso in tri-layer teal-over-orange-over-white numerals with “Sacco” spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer white twill letters, a handwritten notation reading "96-97" is found on the inside of the jersey behind the front crest, having been penned by Islanders equipment manager, Joe McMahon, who has added his signature underneath. Exhibiting light game-wear in the form of board burns over each elbow, the one one the left sleeve has worn through the first layer of material while the one on the right is accented with a couple of light stick marks around it as well. Additionally, staining is seen in the numbers of both sleeves and on the reverse that is worth pointing out for accuracy.
