Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Playing four seasons at the University of Wisconsin after being drafted by the New York Rangers in 1982, Tony Granato skated for three different NHL clubs throughout his career while also representing the US internationally. This team-signed stick was used by Granato during the 1996-97 season with the San Jose Sharks. An Easton Ultra Lite model, "Granato" is stamped to the stem of the wooden Easton blade, with the tattered cloth tape on the handle intact, while one side of the blade tape has been removed. Approx 20 have signed one side of the shaft and blade in black marker, including Granato, along with Tim Hunter, Viktor Kozlov, Marcus Ragnarsson, Ron Sutter, Doug Bodger, Darren Turcotte, Shean Donovan, Jeff Friesen, Dody Wood and others. The signatures are quite bunched-up. The stick itself shows game-use with wear to the underside blade and a few abrasions to the shaft. "San Jose Sharks 1997" is also handwritten to the handle tape.
