Setting the NHL attendance record with just over 105,000 spectators, the 2014 Winter Classic pitted Original Six rivals, with the Detroit Red Wings battling the Toronto Maple Leafs on New Year’s Day, at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, with the Leafs taking the victory in a shootout. This Red Wings jersey was prepared for goaltender Jonas Gustavsson's use in the second period, but he did not play in the game or serve as back-up. "Goalie Style" and “58” size labels sit along the collar beneath a screened on “NHL Winter Classic”, with NHL and Reebok crests over the front and back necklines respectively. The front is styled with a felt and chain stitched Red Wings crest with “Detroit” spelt out above in felt letters. "50” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching felt material. The all-important 2014 Winter Classic crest is affixed to the right shoulder. Issued but never worn, the jersey remains in like-new condition. A MeiGray tag numbered “K06220” is sewn inside the reverse hem, and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “Red-Winter Classic 1/1/14 at Michigan Stadium (The Big House) GI - Team Set Worn Period 2 at Michigan Stadium (The Big House)” specimen. A COA from the Red Wings will accompany.
