The only player that could hold a candle to Wayne Gretzky during the 1980s and 1990s, Mario Lemieux would win a pair of Stanley Cups during his HOF career that included having to battle through incredible adversity on numerous occasions. Offered here, is this pair of cards with “Mario the Magnificent” as the main subject matter in the form of his 2002-03 Parkhurst Retro “Game-Used Quad Jersey/Auto” and 2000-01 BAP “Legend Memorabilia Emblem/Auto” releases. Starting with the Parkhurst Retro example, the card features pieces of jersey worn by Mario during the 1985-86 and 2000-01 NHL regular seasons as well as pieces of jersey worn by him at the 2002 NHL All-Star Game and 1987 Canada Cup embedded into the front with Mario’s crisp black ink signature penned by him in the middle of the card and displaying without issue. Hand serial numbered “3/5” on the reverse, the card is found in the condition vicinity of EX-MT to NM or better with just light wear/dings to the corners and edges being observed with a couple of very light surface scratches. The second card included, the 2000-01 BAP specimen, shows an image of Mario from the 1992 Stanley Cup Finals with an absolutely gorgeous piece of 1992 Stanley Cup Finals patch embedded alongside the image. Signed by Mario above the memorabilia swatch with another crisp black marker ink signature that displays well, the card falls in the EX-MT condition range with light wear/dings to all four corners and wear/dings to edges on both the front and reverse though it is much heavier on the reverse side. A stunning pairing, don’t let these pass you by!
