Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
77 cards larger than the set from the previous season, the 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee release rang in at 341 total cards, the biggest set released by the Canadian manufacturer up to that point and came at an important time in hockey history as the WHA entered the professional climate with its first season of play that same year. On the auction block here is this group of 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee cards totalling ten (10) with most being RC’s and all having been graded by either PSA or BVG. Including first-year cardboard offerings of Jerry Korab, Dan Maloney, Steve Vickers and Don Saleski that have all been given marks of NM-MT 8 from the graders at PSA, additional PSA slabs total four (4) featuring the cards of Keith Magnuson, Ivan Boldirev, Nick Beverley and Bobby Schmautz with all once again earning grades of NM-MT 8. The last two cards, both Beckett graded offerings includes a copy of card #16 picturing Andre Dupont that has also earned a NM-MT 8, as well as a second copy of Ivan Boldirev’s card that falls a bit higher than the other one, registering as a NM-MT+ 8.5. Of note, all the holders remain in excellent condition with just light scratches and scuffs worth noting.
