Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Sure to keep our lucky winning bidder occupied for hours on end, offered here is this hockey card collection consisting of approximately 3000+ cards that includes offerings dating from the 1940’s to the 1970s and features examples from companies such as Beehive, Parkhurst, Topps and O-Pee-Chee. Including many partial sets, the oldest items found are a small group of Beehive’s that includes names such as Durnan, Bentley and Hull. Showing largely in low-grade conditions, many of the photos do not include their original backing. Largely made up of commons and semi-stars, some bigger names are scattered throughout the contingency including those such as Hull, Howe, Plante, Orr, P. and T. Esposito, Armstrong, Kelly, H. Richard, Savard, Keon and many more. Most of the group is made up of partial O-Pee-Chee sets from the 1970’s including 1972-73, 1973-74, 1974-75, 1976-77 and 1977-78. Also included, are partial sets of both 1974-75 WHA and 1977-78 WHA. A large box features small groups of cards dating from 1971-72 that includes a low-grade Guy Lafleur rookie card, and back sees examples from Parkhurst and Topps while being mostly made up of 1977-78 and 1978-79 cards. Condition varies a lot throughout with no cards really in the mid-to-high grade range with the majority of the cards in G, VG and VG-EX vicinity with a very low percentage better and some worse as well including those of the notable stars. Some of the common condition issues that we note include corner dings and wear, creases, surface problems, tape and pen marks, rounded corners and edge wear. Overall, a great collection for those looking for starter sets that they can build on to or for dealers looking for inventory, don’t let these pass you by.
