Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Only one in a long line of legendary players that wore the famed bleu, blanc et rouge during their respective National Hockey League careers, Jacques Plante would help the team to six (6) Stanley Cup championships and collect seven (7) Vezina Trophy’s during a career that also saw him revolutionize the game in numerous other ways. Originally displayed within the hallowed halls of the Montreal Forum at the corner of Sainte-Catharine and Atwater, offered here is this action photo display showing Jacques Plante and the Canadiens during a game on October 8th, 1960 against the Boston Bruins. Measuring to full dimensions of approx. 30 ½” x 31 ½”, the image (29” x 30”) is still attached to its original backing that has been screwed into a black wooden frame via the original holes, that is not original to the piece. Displaying the date of the game as well as the final score of 1 to 1 at the bottom left corner, wear to the piece is seen throughout with sections of paper loss largely along the top with smaller sections also present throughout while red marks/stains are seen over the right side of the display as well. Additionally, the black coloured wooden frame the piece is screwed into also shows wear to the edges and corners. A wonderful memento from one of hockey's most famous places.
Of note, While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occur during shipping.
