Graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design - or RISD - with a B.F.A. in Sculpture in 1964, Sterett-Gittings Kelsey is recognized as the master sculptor of dance, primarily in bronze with figures ranging from three inches to fourteen feet in height. Her works grace numerous American museums as well as The Royal Porcelain Museum in Copenhagen, The Hakone Open-air Museum in Tokyo and others. Invited to work with Royal Copenhagen in 1975, Sterret Kelsey designed several porcelain figurines and the first bronze figurine collection in the 200 years of Royal Copenhagen, including the offered limited-edition hockey bronze. At 8" in height, the well executed and hefty bronze player is mounted to a 5" x 5" marble sandstone base, with a small Royal Copenhagen plaque affixed with the sculptors name and limited-edition number of "195/2500". The artist's name is also stamped into the base of the bronze itself. In beautiful condition with no issues, figural hockey items of this caliber rarely surface. Accompanying the bronze, we have a circa 1975 pewter goaltender figurine by Lance. Just over 5" in height with a breadth of 6", the goalie is well designed, mounted to a 3" x 5 1/2" base. Able to slightly swivel on the base, there are stamps to the underside.
