Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Led offensively by rookie superstar Wayne Gretzky, as he tied Marcel Dionne for the lead league in points at 137, the Edmonton Oilers finished the 1979-80 NHL season in fourth place in the Smythe Division. This lot offers a pair of matching and rarely seen Edmonton Oilers souvenir sticks from the historic rookie season of The Great One, with each featuring facsimile stamped signatures. In Oilers orange with blue and white striping bands (one is missing from one stick, while the second one is loose), "Edmonton Oilers" graphics appear on one side of each shaft, with the facsimile signatures on the other, with a total of 25 stamped blue signatures, including Wayne Gretzky, Cam Connor, Blair MacDonald, Poul Popiel, Dave Semenko, Dave Dryden, Eddie Mio, Brett Callighen, Ron Chipperfield and many others. The sticks show light handling wear, and are perfect for display in any Wayne Gretzky rookie collection.
