A group of nine (9) cards recently returned from the headquarters of PSA anchors this complete 79-card assembly of Parkhurst’s 1955-56 release. All garnering marks of either EX-MT 6 or EX 5, the group of 6’s is led by the key first year cardboard of Jacques Plante and is joined by the cards of Jean Beliveau, Howie Morenz, Rocket Roars Through and Leaf Speedsters Attack. The quartet of 5’s includes both coveted cards picturing the façade of Maple Leaf Gardens and the Montreal Forum as well as “Rocket” Richard and Georges Vezina. Largely a middle of the grade scale set that includes many of the remaining cards in the range of VG-EX to EX, some better noteworthy copies are observed throughout including EX to EX-MT examples of 23-Broda, 35-Marshal (RC), 71-Plante Is Protected and 74-Beliveau Bats Puck. Cards in the vicinity of EX include the likes of 45-Harvey (light corner wear) and 67-Blake (light gum or wax stain on the back) while VG-EX to EX cards feature 1-Lumley (corner wear on front and back right sides), 18-Duff (RC – corner wear), 43-Geoffrion (light corner wear) and 58-Joliat (light wear). The rest of the key cards are rounded out with examples in the VG scope of 3-Horton (corner wear), 57-Morenz (extra copy – light scuff on Canadiens logo) and 73-Richard Tests Lumley (corner wear) while a PR condition copy of card #38 Dickie Moore that has been sliced in the middle and shows creases and reverse damage brings up the rear. Card #52 of Gerry McNeil is in PR condition as well with cards #6, 15, 24, 28, 33, 54 and 70 all having wax damage on their backs. Additionally, five (5) doubles are included of cards #24, 31, 57, 62, 74 with the last of the group being the previously mentioned “Beliveau Bats Puck” card, this one in worse of condition, displaying in the range of VG-EX in our opinion after inspection.
