A trio of classic late-1980s O-Pee-Chee offerings is up for grabs here via this lot consisting of 1986-87, 1987-88 and 1988-89 complete sets. Starting with the ’86-87 assembly that finds itself in the high-grade condition range of EX-MT/NM (something that is uniform with all three of the offered sets), the rookie cards of Patrick Roy, John Vanbiesbrouck and Wendel Clark are present, with the cardboard of “St. Patrick” displaying in the vicinity of EX-MT+ due to very light wear to the right side corners, while the other two are both seen as EX-MT/NM. All the cards picturing “The Great One” also remain in the condition range of EX-MT/NM while card #122 of Mario Lemieux falls in the vicinity of EX-MT+ because of a very small top right corner ding. The 1987-88 set, once again comprised of 264-cards like the release before it, features an attractive design with a checklist that includes over 40 first year offerings such as those of 42-Robitaille, 123-Oates, 243-Damphousse, 233-Richer, 227-Lemieux, 215-Vernon, 169-Hextall, 13-Ranford, 7-Tikkanen and 2-Tocchet with all of the aforementioned cards having EX-MT/NM characteristics with just the Damphousse and Hextall examples showing a small amount of wear. Cards of Hall of Famers 53-Gretzky, 15-Lemieux (light corner wear), 163-Roy and 56-Yzerman are also present the same condition range. Completing the trio is the 264-card 1988-89 set featuring the rookie cards of 16-Nieuwendyk, 66-Hull, 122-Shanahan and 194-Turgeon all having EX-MT/NM characteristics while card #120 of Wayne Gretzky, his first in a Los Angeles Kings uniform, remains in similar condition. Cardboard picturing HOFers Mario Lemieux and Patrick Roy each show a tad bit of corner wear and check in around the scope of EX-MT+ while Stevie-Y finds himself in the same vicinity as Wayne and the rookies at EX-MT/NM.
