Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Capitalizing on the fame of the late-19th century Montreal hockey club crowned Stanley Cup champions in both 1899 and 1900, we have an especially rare never used antique Spalding Shamrock one-piece hockey stick that was produced between 1902 and 1904, with this example possessing a desirable original grooved handle. Only the fourth example we’ve handled in over 20 years and datable by the silver-stamped Spalding trademark logo inverted on the blade. At 43 ½” in length and the most expensive stick offered from the famous maker, the Spalding logo displays nicely, with just some light wear to the dark finish in spots from age/storage. To find a stick of this quality in high grade that was never used is a dream come true for collectors. From the Brent Sobie antique hockey and baseball collection.
