A pleasing duo of classic mid-1970s O-Pee-Chee sets, numerous cards of Bobby Orr as well as rookie releases of Denis Potvin, Borje Salming and Lanny McDonald as well as of coaches Scotty Bowman and Don Cherry headline these two offered contingents. Each comprised of 396 total cards, both sets fall in the scope of VG/VG-EX to EX-MT with some exceptions both above and below. For the 1974-75 set, rookie cards of McDonald (corner wear), Potvin (corner wear) and Gainey (elastic marks) are in the condition vicinity of VG with the first-year releases of Salming (off-center right-to-left and bottom-to-top) and Shutt a tad better at VG/EX and EX-MT. The rookie cards of Cherry and Bowman fall at G (creased) and EX-MT conditions respectively in our opinion. Star cards of 100-Orr, 130-Orr All-Star, 155-Dryden, 232-Lafleur and 260-Clarke range in condition between G/VG and VG/EX. The trio of checklists include 54-Checklist 1-132 at VG (off-center right-to-left and lightly marked), 162-Checklist 133-264 at G/VG (creased and marked) and 311-Checklist 263-396 at EX/EX-MT (unmarked).
The 1975-76 issue, an inconsistent condition set, featuring many cards in EX/EXMT-NM condition while also having many that are creased as well. Star power is led by 100-Orr (EX-MT/NM), 35-Dryden (VG-EX) and 126-Lafleur (VG/EX) with fellow Hall of Famers Robinson, Potvin, Dionne, Clarke, Sittler, the Esposito brothers, Salming, McDonald, Perreault and others also contributing, most in the commonly seen condition range of VG-EX/VG condition. The rookie card class, made up of 40 strong, includes notable examples of 396-Snepsts (EX/EX-MT), 199-Gillies (EX/EX-MT), 305-Larouche (G/VG – Creased), 163-Bourne (EX/EX-MT (OC)), 223-Tremblay (VG/VG-EX – Creased) and 107-Doug Risebrough (VG/VG-EX – Creased). Of the 18 team checklists, 16 are unmarked with the exceptions being 85-Atlanta and 88-Kansas City while for the series checklists, 99-Checklist 1-110 is marked and creased, 171-Checklist 111-220 is marked but has a small crease in the top left corner, 267-Checklist 221-330 is unmarked and 267-Checklist 331-396 is also unmarked with the latter two in the EX-MT condition vicinity.
