Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Described on the back of the card as “continuing to keep you as close as you can get!” cards containing pieces of memorabilia worn or used by players past and present keep garnering immense fanfare from collectors looking to add just a small piece of history to their collections. Up on the block here, is this collection of seven (7) memorabilia cards showcasing Wayne Gretzky and containing memorabilia used or worn by the NHL’s scoring king embedded into them from various 2001-02 Upper Deck releases. Over half the group is made up by offerings from UD’s Legend’s set, with one card, featuring a piece of stick used by “The Great One” having earned a NM-MT 8 mark from Beckett with subgrades on the back of the label consisting of Centering 9.5, Corners 8, Edges 9 and Surface 7.5. An additional copy of the same card is present, as are two more 2001-02 Legends cards, both featuring pieces of Oilers jersey worn by Wayne, one a blue mesh swatch and the other a white, with the blue one sporting a serial number of “084/100”, being a platinum variation. The last three cards rounding out the group, see two with Wayne as an Oiler over the front with one, serial numbered “047/150” having a piece of stick over the front and the other another piece of Oilers sweater, this time orange in colour. The last card, numbered “22/50”, also shows a piece of stick used by Wayne. All in excellent condition with a couple showing light edge and corner wear, we’re sure that our lucky winning bidder will be pleased with these wonderful cardboard offerings.
