A two-time Stanley Cup champion, Adam Graves was a fan favourite during his 10-years spent in Manhattan as a member of the Blue Shirts, helping the Rangers win Lord Stanley’s coveted cup in 1994 by registering 17 points in 23 games played during the playoffs. On February 3rd, 2009, the Rangers retired Graves’ number “9” to the rafters of Madison Square Garden where he would join fellow 1994 teammates Brian Leetch, Mark Messier and Mike Richter as well as Ranger greats Rod Gilbert and Ed Giacomin.
Hailing from that celebratory evening in Midtown, is this New York Rangers jersey worn during the warm-up by Markus Naslund on “Adam Graves Retirement Night”. A throwback style jersey based on the ones the Rangers wore during their 1994 Cup run, the garment sports CCM/Vintage Hockey labeling affixed to the inner collar as well as a size “56” flag tag that has had Naslund’s “91” penned over it in blue marker while the CCM logo and NHL shield adorn the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with the familiar “Rangers” in drop shadow blue-over-red tackle twill letters, Graves’ number “9” is found over the left breast while the “Adam Graves Retirement Night” patch is sewn over the right shoulder. The sleeves and verso have been accented with Naslund’s number “91” in matching style with Graves having signed the reverse number “1” with a black ink signature that displays without issue. Worn for just the warm-up, the jersey displays no obvious signs of use and remains in beautiful condition.
A MeiGray tag numbered “F09540” is affixed inside the rear hem and according to their population report, the jersey is a “White – Adam Graves Night (Warm Up)” specimen. A Madison Square Gardens Collectables COA will accompany the piece.
