Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Formed in the 1880s, the Toronto Granites were the first organized ice hockey team in Toronto. An offshoot of the Toronto Granite Curling Club, the team captured consecutive Allan Cup championships as the best senior amateur team in Canada in 1922 and 1923 and was selected to represent their nation at the Olympic Games in 1924 where they earned the gold medal. This framed composite team photo of the 1921-22 Granites features HOFers Hooley Smith and Harry Watson along with Dunc Munro. At 16" x 20", cameo images of the full squad are pictured in four horizontal rows along with the Allan and Robertson Cups. There is some edge wear along with a few minor blemishes, with the photo set in a period frame that shows wear to full dimensions of 23" x 27". Toronto hockey history at it's finest!
