Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The predecessor to the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Regina Rugby Club was formed in 1910, and won seven straight WCRFU titles, excluding 1917 and 1918 when World War I interrupted league play. In 1921, the western champion was invited to compete for the Grey Cup national championship for the first time. This photograph features the 1913 MRFU–SRFU champions, having defeated Winnipeg for the title. At approx 22" x 29" and a unique one-of-a-kind master photograph used to make smaller cabinet photos, full body images of each team member has been glued to the matte, with the text and graphics all done by hand by photographers Johnson brothers. In beautiful condition with just some wear and marks to the matte in spots, this display is in need of a quality framing.
