Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The first of five tournaments organized by Alan Eagleson that showcased the greatest hockey nations on earth, the 1976 Canada Cup featured the world’s six best competing countries battling for supremacy, with Canada meeting Czechoslovakia in a three-game final. The mighty maple leaf would prove victorious, with the Canadians winning the first two games and the series. Originating from the collection of longtime Montreal Canadiens and Team Canada trainer Gaetan Lefebvre, we have a stick issued to HOFer Bobby Hull for the tournament team signed by 21 members of Team Canada. A CCM "Canada Cup 76" model with "Hull" stamped, one side of the shaft has been shaved down to accept autographs, with signers to include Hull, Orr, P. Esposito, P. Mahovlich, Robinson, Lafleur, Martin, Vachon, Leach, MacDonald, Savard, Dionne, Lapointe, Clarke, Barber, Shutt, Cherry (coach) and others. The ballpoint signatures are somewhat hard to make out but still display well, with an LOA from Classic Auctions to accompany.
