Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
With games held across the country including Winnipeg, Montreal, Edmonton and Ottawa, the 1981 Canada Cup was the second best-on-best tournament featuring the world's greatest hockey nations, with the single-game final won by a powerful Soviet squad. Bobby Smith attended the training camp for Team Canada, but wasn't selected to play. Originating from the collection of longtime Montreal Canadiens and Team Canada trainer Gaetan Lefebvre, we have a stick issued to Smith for the tournament team signed by 22 members of Team Canada. A CCM Duralite model with "Bobby Smith" decal, one side of the shaft has been shaved down to accept autographs, with signers to include Gretzky, Bourque, Lafleur, Dionne, Perreault, Potvin, Bossy, Trottier, Robinson, Gillies, Goring, Dugay, Liut, Middleton and others. The ballpoint signatures display well, with an LOA from Classic Auctions to accompany.
