Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Many/most Canadiens fans and hockey observers feel that Patrick Roy is most responsible for the Habs’ two most recent Stanley Cup championships, his memorable playoff performances, (which continued for Colorado) resulting in the Quebec City native being the only man in history to be awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy three times as playoff MVP. An eyebrow raising lot sure to draw a considerable amount of interest is this one consisting of five cards from early in St. Patrick’s career including his coveted 1986-86 O-Pee-Chee rookie card that has been examined and slabbed by the graders at PSA, earning a desirable high-grade mark of NM-MT 8 many years ago based on the style of PSA label. Two second year offerings are also present, once again from the Canadian release of O-Pee-Chee, with one having earned another NM-MT 8 from PSA and the other garnering a NEAR MINT+ 7.5 from those over at Beckett. The quintet of cards is rounded out by a duo 1988-89 OPC/Topps issues that have both been deemed worthy of MINT 9 grades, once again from PSA. All the holders remain in good condition despite some of them being older examples, with only light scratches/scuffs found worth noting.
