Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Part of the famed “Russian Five” that helped the Detroit Red Wings win back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1997 and 1998, Slava Kozlov would play a total of 1182 games in the National Hockey League over the course of his career, registering 853 points in the process for Detroit, Buffalo and Atlanta. Offered here, is this stick used by Slava as a member of the Detroit Red Wings during the lockout shortened 1994-95 season. An Innovative Pro PF1000 model stick with “S Kozlov” stamped over the shaft, the stick retains Kozlov’s original black tape job over both the handle/knob and blade with some of the black wrapping on the blade having been removed to facilitate a bold blue ink signature of Slava’s over the back part of the forehand side. Sporting a Christian “Puck Master” blade that has been inserted into the bottom of the shaft and has “Kozlov” stamped to the stem, the stick shows light game wear via a small handful of marks/abrasions to the blade tape, lower shaft, heel and blade. Of note, Kozlov is seen in photos using this model of stick with various different blades and we were unable to find an image showing this specific one.
