A six-time NHL All-Star, Grant Fuhr backstopped the Edmonton Oilers to glory during the club’s golden era, and was a member of five Stanley Cup championships. Hailing from circa 1987-88, the year the Oilers won their 4th Stanley Cup in 5 years, is this stick used by Fuhr as a member of the Edmonton Oilers. A Sher-Wood PMPG model with “Fuhr G. 31” stamped to the upper shaft, the all-white stick with blue lettering retains its original tape job of white-over-black on the handle/knob and black over the blade. Exhibiting heavy game-use, the paddle of the stick shows a long crack on the top edge that runs down to the beginning of the blade while additional cracks and chips are seen at the heel and both the top and bottom edges of the paddle as well. Sporting puck marks throughout the entirety of the stick, red post paint transfers are seen on the backside of the upper shaft while numerous rips are seen to the blade tape. Additionally, Fuhr has signed the bottom of the paddle with a blue ink signature that displays well despite some lightness from age and has added an inscription reading “74th Game” underneath. Of note, the stick was NOT used in the Oilers 74th game of the 1987-88 season but is one from that era of play.
