A chance to score a duo of complete O-Pee-Chee offerings from the mid-1970s is offered here, through these complete 1975-76 and 1976-77 sets up on the auction block. The 75-76 set, overall in the condition range of EX/EX-MT, is led by Star power including 100-Orr (EX-MT/NM), 35-Dryden (EX) and 126-Lafleur (EX/EX-MT) with fellow Hall of Famers Robinson, Potvin, Dionne, Clarke, Sittler, the Esposito brothers, Salming, McDonald, Perreault and others also contributing, with many falling in the VG-EX/EX condition scope showing corner/edge wear and dings as well as OPC’s commonly seen centering issues. The rookie card class, made up of 40 strong, includes notable examples of 396-Snepsts (G/VG+, creases), 199-Gillies (VG-EX/EX, small corner crease, light marks on the reverse), 305-Larouche (EX-MT/NM), 163-Bourne (EX-MT/NM (OC)), 223-Tremblay (EX-MT/NM (OC)) and 107-Doug Risebrough (EX/EX-MT – light corner mark on front). Of the 18 team checklists, all are unmarked while for the series checklists, 99-Checklist 1-110 is unmarked but creased, 171-Checklist 111-220 is unmarked, 267-Checklist 221-330 is unmarked but has a crease and 267-Checklist 331-396 is also unmarked but has a small pencil mark on the reverse.
For the 1976-77 contingency, a more colourful and eye-catching effort than what was seen the year before, the condition scope is largely that of VG-EX/EX with a couple of exceptions while also exhibiting the company’s commonly seen centering issues that we mentioned above. Led by the rookie card of Bryan Trottier that is observed in the EX-MT condition range with some slight surface “snow”, star power of 213-Orr (G), 163-Lafleur (VG-EX), 200-Dryden (VG-EX) 22-Salming (G), 70-Clarke (EX/EX-MT) and 151-Robinson (VG) help accent the group. The team checklist cards, number 132-149, all remain unmarked except for 132-Atlanta and 136-Chicago. The regular checklists, all are unmarked with number 116 and 258 in the range of VG-EX condition, sporting a ding to the bottom right corner and being miscut respectively while the last one, number 377, appears in the vicinity of EX-MT.
