Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Gaining pre-NHL seasoning with a pair of seasons spent in his nation with Dynamo Moscow, Andrei Markov skated in parts of 16 seasons in Montreal with the Habs, his only NHL club, and concluded his career in the KHL with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, in 2019-20. Offered here is this lot consisting of a stick used by Markov in the mid-to-late-2000s and his gloves from centennial games during the 2008-09 season.
The stick is an Easton Synergy model that was used by Markov during the 2006-07, 2007-08 and early parts of the 2008-09 season. Sporting “79 Markov” factory graphics over the shaft, the twig retains its original red cloth-over-black tape job with “79” handwritten ink black ink over the knob/handle and black on the blade. Showing light-to-moderate game-use, chipping is seen to the graphics on the shaft while numerous chips, marks and abrasions are observed over the lower shaft, heel and untaped section of the blade. The blade tape shows cuts and tears to both sides while Markov has signed the forehand side with a silver ink signature that displays well despite some fading from age.
Made by Easton, the all-blue gloves have “Easton” screened to the cuffs with “Markov” embroidered into the wrists. Easton Pro model patches are sewn to the backside of the wrists with rubber Easton logos sewn onto the thumbs. Displaying light game-wear, the fronts show light marks/abrasions while the palms show light rubbing on both. Additionally, the original tag from the Canadiens team store is still affixed to the cuff of the right glove.
