Hailing from years that saw the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and BC Lions trade Grey Cup championships against each other, up for grabs here is this lot that includes a complete and partial sets of 1963 Topps CFL and 1964 Topps CFL football cards respectively.
Starting with the 1963 assembly, the set is complete with all 88-cards being accounted for and includes a mix of grade ranges found throughout. Led by the keys of 17-Keeling (RC), 21-Coffey, 34-Henley and 50-Jackson (signed) in the condition range of EX to EX-MT, that quartet is followed by a VG-EX to EX copies of cards #3 picturing Joe Kapp and #35 of Joe Zuger. For the rest of the notables, card #30 of Bernie Faloney is seen as being in the proximity of VG to VG-EX while the examples of 31-Patterson (crease and light corner wear) and 68-Parker (corner wear) are found in the scope of G to VG. Lastly, the checklist card, #88, is in the range of FR to G and is marked plus creased. It should also be noted that card #1 of Willie Fleming has poor corners and 5 or 6 cards show noticeable creases.
For the 1964 set, 75 of the 88 cards that make up the checklist are included with #’s 6, 8, 11, 23, 29, 37, 42, 47, 49, 57, 72, 74 and 80 being the cards that are missing. Overall a consistent mid-grade grouping with cards largely seen as being in the range of VG-EX to EX condition and sporting light corner wear, a few also show creases that are worth noting. For the key cards, the best examples include EX to EX-MT specimens of 21-Coffey and 30-Faloney (off-center) who are followed in proximity by VG-EX to EX cards of 1-Flemming (signed) and 68-Parker (light corner wear). Those seen as being VG to VG-EX include 31-Patterson (scuff at the bottom), 50-Jackson (off-center) and 88-Checklist (unmarked with corner wear). To conclude the notable cards, #34 of Garney Henley (corner wear) is in the range of G to VG while #35 of Joe Zuger is found in the vicinity of GOOD (crease) and #3 of Joe Kapp brings up the rear with his card falling towards PR due to a hole through it.
