After losing in the last Stanley Cup Finals of the Original Six Era, the Montreal Canadiens once again rose to the top of hockey supremacy in 1968 and 1969, knocking off the newly minted St. Louis Blues on both occasions. Offered here, is this quartet of programs from both the 1968 and 1969 Stanley Cup Finals. Three of the four included examples measure roughly 8 ½” x 11” with one larger example from the 1969 Finals having dimensions of 9” x 12”. The earliest example, from the Cup clinching Game 4 on May 11th, 1968 at the Forum, features Robert Rousseau on the cover as well as the original .50 cent purchase price. The center lineup card remains on the interior having come away from the rest of the pages. The program shows heavy wear with toning to the interior pages with edge and corner wear also seen. Tears are found to the front and back covers along with surface wear, toning and creasing. The covers are also torn at the spine as well with rust free staples seen. The 1969 Finals are represented by 3 programs, two from Game 1 – including one that is inserted in a year in review book, and one from the Cup clinching fourth game. The Game 1 programs remain in good condition with the one within the book remaining in perfect condition with just light toning and the other having a small tear at the spine while otherwise remaining excellent. The year in review book shows surface wear to the covers as well as creasing and spine wear. The program from Game 4 also remains in excellent condition, with wear to the cover worth mentioning via corner creasing, surface and spine wear and pen marks to the top left corner. All complete, the group is a fantastic memento from the Canadiens golden years.
