Drafted by the New York Islanders 38th overall in 1986, Dennis Vaske would play in 235 NHL games split between the Islanders and Boston Bruins. Offered here, is this jersey worn by Vaske during the 1996-97 season. Made by CCM, brand tagging and a size “54” tag are affixed to the inner collar with the CCM logo and NHL shield embroidered into the rear hem. The front of the jersey is decorated with the Islanders crest, with evidence of the 25th anniversary patch that was removed by the team visible over the right breast. Alternate logo patches reside over the shoulders, with the sleeves and verso of the jersey accented with Vaske’s number “28” in tri layer tackle twill with “Vaske” across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer twill letters. Of note, while there is no evidence of a former nameplate having ever been on the back, Vaske’s nameplate does look as if it was recycled from a different jersey to this one. Sporting moderate game-use, dark stick marks are seen over the lower front, left cuff and left shoulder with a light board burn also seen near the patch on the left shoulder as well. Islanders equipment manager, Joe McMahon, has signed the inside of the crest, adding “96-97” above. An LOA will accompany the jersey.
