Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The only NHL player in history to be born in Taiwan, as his father an American serviceman was stationed there, Rod Langway was selected in both the NHL and WHA drafts of 1977, and played for both Montreal and Washington throughout his HOF career. A six-time All-Star, Langway earned back-to-back Norris trophies in the early-1980s. Offered here, we offer this stick used by the stalwart blueliner during the mid-to-late 1980s as a member of the Washington Capitals. A Victoriaville Ultra 4050 model with “R. Langway” stamped over the shaft, the original red-cloth-over-black tape job is found over the shaved handle/knob along with black on the blade. The stick exhibits light use with dark marks throughout the length of the shaft along with some marks over the taped section of the blade. The foil accent sticker on near the bottom of the shaft remains fully intact but is starting to come away from the twig in areas. Additionally, Langway has signed shaft of the stick with a black ink signature that displays without issue despite some fading from age.
