Originally issued the number “7” when he started his NHL career with the Boston Bruins, famously worn by Phil Esposito, Ray Bourque would surrender the number to Espo during his jersey retirement ceremony on December 3rd, 1987 and begin wearing “77” instead. Offered here, is this stick used by Bourque during the mid-1980s as a member of the Boston Bruins before his number change. A Sher-Wood PMP 7030 model with “Bourque. R 7” stamped to the upper shaft, the vintage lumber retains its original tape job of white over the shaved handle and black over the blade. Exhibiting moderate game-use, the stick shows a handful of marks/abrasions throughout the black coloured shaft with a small chip seen just underneath the mostly intact foil accent sticker. Other marks/abrasions are seen over the heel and blade as well with the blade tape having a good number of marks on each side as well as tears.
