Expected to run roughshod over the Soviets, and shocked by the skill and discipline of the Russians, coach Harry Sinden noted his disbelief after Game 1 of the 1972 Canada-Russia series, stating “I was stunned by their performance”. The Soviets would easily claim the first contest 7-3, with superstar Valeri Kharlamov scoring a pair of goals. We offer an original 1972 Canada-Russia Series full ticket produced for Game 1 in Montreal. At 1 ¾” x 5 ½”, the scarce full ticket lists the game, date, venue and seat, along with the $7.00 cover price, with advertising on the reverse from CCM. The ticket remains in good condition with light creasing around the corners and edges being seen as well as corner wear and a paper flaw next to the Soviet flag. Also included is an official program from the series. Displaying the flags of both nations, the Hockey Canada logo and the price of two dollars, the program remains in good condition with light handling wear, toning/spotting and creasing to both the front and back covers while the interior pages show light toning around the edges and a small tear to the top of one of the pages.
