Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

A hodgepodge of items pertaining to NHL, minor league and junior teams is seen here is this lot up on the auction block that includes game and practice worn jerseys, game-worn socks, training suits, autographs and other memorabilia. Starting with the jerseys, game-worn offerings include an Owen Sound Attack jersey from the early-2000s paired with a set of matching mesh material game socks. Made by Bauer with size “54” labeling affixed to the interior collar, the front is decorated with a large Owen Sound team crest that features embroidered details with alternate logo patches over each shoulder. The sleeves and verso are accented with dual layer tackle twill numerals with no nameplate present across the top of the upper back. Sporting embroidered Bauer and CHL logos over the reverse hem, good game-wear in the form of stick marks, board burns and paint transfers are seen throughout the piece with sweat staining observed near the collar. The socks, displaying heavy use and numerous team repairs, also show numerous stick marks, stains, frays and unrepaired holes. The second jersey included, is a practice jersey worn by members of the San Antonio Ramage AHL franchise. Made by SP and tagged a size “56” on the inner collar, a large Rampage team crest is found over the front with additional AHL and SP logos over the reverse hem. Featuring a fight strap on the interior, wear is exhibited through board burns over both sleeves. Additional clothing items include a trio of Florida Panthers training pieces made by CCM/Reebok in the form on a long sleeve shirt, jacket and pants. All in good condition with Panthers and NHL logos present on each, the jacket and pants are size “M” with the shirt a size “L”. The last tracksuit included is one issued for the NHLPA All-Canadiens event made by Reebok. Consisting of a coat and pants, the red ensemble is made up of size “M” pieces with the event logo embroidered into the chest of the jacket. In excellent condition, the pants still have their original tags attached. Signed memorabilia is present in the form of four (4) Hespeler posters picturing Gary Roberts that have been signed by him in black ink with all the signatures displaying without issue as well as a mix of 19 cards of Roberts, Joe Sakic and Alexi Yashin that have all been signed by their respective players. All the signatures display well with the cards and posters showing light handling wear on most. Lastly, a group of 19 pucks is present including game examples for the Florida Panthers (early-2000s), New York Rangers (late-1990s), San Antonio Rampage, 1991-92 NHL 75th anniversary season and 1992-93 Stanley Cup Centennial season as well as other miscellaneous examples. Most show well with only light wear with others having some wear to the logos present.
Lorne Goldenberg has worked as a strength and conditioning coach for the Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, St. Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks, Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, Windsor Spitfires, and the Ottawa 67s. He lectures internationally on a variety of topics, including stability ball exercises and ground-based sport conditioning, for groups such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Society of Weight Training Injury Specialists, provincial associations, and professional teams. He has written for the NSCA Journal of Strength and Conditioning, Ironman, Physical, Men’s Journal, Hockey Life, and Hockey Now.
