Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Topps’ first instalment of its 1964-65 issue is featured here, with just the 2nd Series checklist (card #55) not present and attractive mid-grade examples dominating. If we tell you that EX and EX+ cards are mostly what you can expect, you’ll be pleased with the ones that make it to EX-MT, with a dozen cards lowered to VG or VG+ because of a not-drastic crease. Key 1st Series short prints are led by 20-Bobby Hull (just shy of EX at VG-EX+), 33-Jean Beliveau (VG+ due to a small crease near the bottom) and 48-Henri Richard (EX+), with 1-Pit Martin (VG+) and 47-Roger Crozier (EX+) leading the rookie card lineup. Goaltending legends 6-Sawchuk (EX), 12-Hall (EX-MT) and 40-Bower (EX+ (MC)) are noteworthy, as are fellow Hall of Famers 24-Gilbert (EX) and 31-Mikita, the latter close to being miscut and otherwise VG-EX+. The aforementioned lesser cards are mostly commons but include SPs 8-Bergman RC and 39-Pronovost, while the marked checklist is otherwise crease-free and VG-EX. More classic collectibles worthy of consideration await yours.
