Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
One of the most recognizable goalies of the era by the stitch marks he penned on his mask every time he was struck by a puck, Gerry Cheevers would enjoy time in both the NHL and WHA with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and the Cleveland Crusaders, winning Stanley Cups with the Bruins in 1970 and 1972. Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1985, offered here is this copy of “Cheesie’s” 1965 Topps rookie card that has been deemed worthy of an NM-MT 8. Card number 31 in the attractive 128 card set, a young Cheevers is displayed over the front with “Bruins” at the top with his name and position listed underneath. Showing a clean front and back with good edges and sharp corners, light touches of wear are seen over the aforementioned corners, the worse of it on the upper left one in particular. The comic on the back is visible. Slabbed by PSA, only a couple of light scratches/scuffs are worth noting on each side of the holder that remains in otherwise beautiful condition.
