Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Appealing-plus is this offering from our consignor’s enjoyable-to-peruse stash of cards from the 1970s, with once again, the like-new unblemished surfaces standing out, with EX-MT and NM-or-better cards combining for a strong majority. Sure, the odd intermittent corner ding and corner touches are observed, along with an infrequent condition exception, but words like “nice” and “beauty” are more-often-than-not prompted and you’ll be saying them too while contemplating the numerous submission candidates. Cards of 129-Orr (NM 7) and 145-Ken Dryden (NM-MT 8) are graded by PSA and there are raw duplicates, although lesser (Orr is EX+ and Dryden VG+), with Bobby appearing on five others, all of them NM-or-better – nice. Guy Lafleur’s second-year card (NM) and Bobby Hull’s WHA-leading example (NM+) are also noteworthy, as are four unmarked checklists (easily averaging NM), with “More WHA Hockey Stars” representing #334. All sorts of fun inserts are welcome bonuses, with Dryden and Espo among the (16) Player Crests and Ken, Phil and Tony O leading the Team Canada roster of 17, with the vast majority of the two groups with production-caused prick marks of varying degrees. Our images inform of the desirable 11 WHA team logo inserts, and ditto for the with-duplication NHL entries which are actually from ’73-74. Two other cards graded NM-MT 8 by PSA, (64-Pronovost and 120-Unger), complete the alluring gathering that offers mucho possibilities. Beauty!
