Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/14/2022
Drafted 20th overall by the Quebec Nordiques in 1979 after a year in the WHA with Birmingham, a trade near the end of the 1989-90 brought Michel Goulet to the Windy City, where he would help the Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 1992. Hailing from the 1992-93 season, we offer this Blackhawks jersey worn by Goulet. Made by CCM, both Maska and size “54” labels are affixed the inner collar with the logos of CCM and the NHL shield embroidered into the reverse hem. Styled over the front with the iconic Indian head Blackhawks crest with beautiful chain stitched details, the Stanley Cup Centennial patch is sewn to the right breast – Of note, the jersey is from the second set, issued in early January, as evident by the lack of glue residue from the NHL 75th patch near the Stanley Cup patch, due to the Blackhawks recycling the previous year’s jerseys in to the next season. Chain-stitched tomahawk crests reside over each shoulder, with the sleeves and verso of the jersey decorated with Goulet’s number “16” in dual layer tackle twill. “Goulet” is spelt out in single layer black letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Sporting great game-use, two team repairs are seen over the front while numerous stick marks are found throughout the front and sleeves. A board burn and red paint transfer is seen on the left sleeve, with stick marks and blue liquid stains also present over the reverse. The fight strap is still found in the interior.
