Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023

Scoring 6 points and earning 18 minutes in the penalty box, Bobby Clarke saw action in each and every game of the famous Canada-Russia Series in 1972, and was named Canadian MVP in Game 1. This stick was used by the superstar at the iconic tournament. A Sher-Wood Tex-n-Wrap model with "Clarke" and "16" stamped to the upper shaft, the original tape remains on the knob, with Clarke signing the upper shaft in red, with the signature heavily faded. There is also a date stamp to the lower underside of "7 JL 1972". The stick shows heavy use, with numerous marks to the blade and shaft. Additionally, there is also wear/minor separations at the heel that appear to be from off-ice use, with the blade tape in two different shades of white. We feel that the stick was used off-ice sometime after the tournament, with the blade tape later added along with the inscription across the blade of "Russia/Canada 1972".
