Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
The darling of Broadway and a definite fan favourite throughout his tenure in The Big Apple, netminder Ed Giacomin was selected to play in six NHL All-Star Games, with five consecutive appearances from 1967-71. From late in his career, we have a stick used by the HOF netminder in 1973-74. A Sher-Wood model with “Giacomin” and “1” stamped to the shaft, the original black tape over the paddle and blade is intact, along with the white-over-black tape on the knob. A production date of “14 Fev 1974” is also visible along the underside edge of the paddle, with the 5 thin lower striping accents present. The stick shows light use with wear to the underside blade including at the heel (minor separation), with a small chip out of the top of the toe section. There is also some additional wear and marks to the paddle and shaft.
