A 6-time all-star over the course of his 18-year Major League career, Willie Randolph would win back-to-back World Series Championships with the New York Yankees in 1977 and 1978 as a player and 4 more in pinstripes as a coach during the late-1990’s dynasty. Presented here is a glove Randolph would use in the late-1970s while patrolling second base with the Yankees. A Wilson model 1168 infielders’ glove (The model 1168 number is a pro-stock number Wilson later used for its A2001 infielder's pattern), the mitt’s front utilizes a 1961 front pattern and a 1964 and onwards reverse likely made at Randolph’s request. Willie’s number “30” is handwritten in black ink under the web on the back while a circular Wilson logo patch appears on the wrist strap. In good condition while sporting heavy use, the darkened leather is dried out in areas while broken laces appear at the thumb and wrist with tears and cracking to the interior leather at the hand opening. Additionally, Randolph has signed the glove’s thumb with a black ink signature that appears without issue. Also included is a bat used by Randolph with the Yankees dating between 1980 and 1983. A Louisville Slugger G105 model with Randolph’s signature branded into the barrel, the 34” lumber features a flush known without a lip with “WR” handwritten over it. The handle shows light pine tar while game use is evident light marks and ball transfers to the barrel and handle. Remaining uncracked, the bat is accompanied by a MEARS LOA while the gloves is accompanied by LOA’s from Joe Phillips, PSA/DNA and JSA.
