Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Later dubbed "Super Mario," Montreal native Mario Lemieux did not disappoint in his first NHL campaign following his record-breaking junior career with the Laval Voisins, his rookie season statistics of 43 goals and an even 100 points appearing here on the back of his desirable 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee rookie card. The young star then thoroughly impressed his peers in his second big league season ('85-86), evidenced by them voting Lemieux recipient of the Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the league's outstanding player as selected by the NHL Players' Association, ending a four-year run by Mr. Gretzky. This example of card #9 recently received a pleasing mark of NM 7 at PSA, with light wear touches to the corners and toning to the front being things to note about the card’s condition. The PSA holder remains in virtually perfect condition with only a couple of small marks over each side.
